About This Project

Crimson Foliage of Tatsuta

Displayed on the center of the marble wall in the fifth-floor lobby of the Nara Prefectural Office Building in front of the Office of the Prefectural Governor. Due to the nature of the building, the interior has a conservative tone. At the request of the architect, who wanted an artwork that would lighten up the interior with a burst of color, I created a red-toned scene that depicts refreshing mountains with a river viewed from the forest filled with crimson foliage. The hollow of the large old maple tree by the Tatsuta River had maple mushrooms, which are considered a delicacy.
